Description
Murillo the famous Spanish painter is asked by Dom Miguel to paint an altar. However, inspiration fails him when Satan appears to him and offers to exchange a sketch for his soul. Murillo goes to see Dom Miguel for spiritual help. The worthy monk gravely listens to his story and then gives him a sacred relic that must guarantee him against the machinations of the Demon. Then he invites him to continue his work and tells him that he must beware of only one thing: the sin of pride. That night, Satan goes to Murillo's house. The latter, thanks to the relic, forces him to abandon the sketch to him. He can thus finish painting the altar. He invites the monks to come and see his work proudly declaring that this work is his. Immediately the Devil appears and triumphantly points to the word PRIDE written under the central panel. Murillo staggers and the monks to whom Satan is invisible leave him so he can recover. The Demon returns to claim his victim but Murillo begs for heavenly help. At this moment a painted character comes out of the painting with a naked sword and touches the unwanted visitor who disappears.
