In February 1858, near the village of Lourdes, the young Bernadette Soubirous went along the river to collect wood. She sees a "Lady" in a halo of light. She tells her visions to her parents and to the parish priest who skeptically questions her. Despite their reluctance, she returns several times to the scene of the apparition where, each time, the Virgin addresses her. Soon a crowd follows Bernadette to the cave. Only Bernadette sees The Lady, who indicates a source to her and asks her to erect a chapel in her name. She designated herself to the young girl as the Immaculate Conception. After the site was closed by the authorities, Bernadette returned to the scene and, one last time, the Virgin appeared to her.
One of the first film versions of the story of St. Bernadette was this film made by La Bonne Presse and consisted, as their films at that time, film mixed with colored glass slides.
Bernadette Soubirous was a little pastorelle who looked after the herds of the Aravant family in Bartres. This film is a reconstitution of the apparitions at the cave of Massabielle.
