Moines et guerriers (1909)

A small French drummer, surprised by a ferocious hidalgo is murdered by him, and two Spaniards, the man, and the woman, surprised pity on his corpse, are presumed to be his assassins. Although the man shouts his innocence, he is shot in front of his companion. She swears to avenge him and, with the complicity of the monks of a convent, tends to the general who killed her husband a trap into which he falls. We then witness a scene of unheard-of torture, under which the unfortunate officer succumbs heroically, thus paying with his life for the unconscious crime he has committed.
