This is the continuation of Lumieres first Faust film "Faust: Apparition de Méphistophélès", shot in the same scene, and here Faust accepts the conditions imposed on him by Méphistophélès and he transforms him into a richly dressed young man before the apparition of Marguerite, as Faust falls into ecstasy. Both of the Lumiere Faust films were shown on the 30. January 1898 in Lyon.
