The Parsis are the Zoroastrians, descendants of the ancient Persians, who emigrated to India to escape the persecution of the Muslims. The Parsis are mingling more closely with public life every day and are at the head of the great reform movement that is working in India. The religion of the Parsis is that of the Mazdeists, which admits two principles, one good, the other bad. Ormazd, the good principle, created the world; he governs it assisted by six superior geniuses and secondary geniuses scattered throughout the universe. The evil principle, Ahriman seeks to destroy the beneficent work of Ormazd, assisted by harmful genies and demons. Mazdeists believe that this struggle will end with the defeat of Ahriman and the triumph of perfection. This film retraces the religious ceremony of a marriage - a blessing of the spouses and investiture of the sacred insignia - ending with a grand ballet given in honor of the newlyweds.
