The barber's child needs to be baptized, and the guests come sprinkling flowers and gifts while he is still in the process of taking care of his last customer. As it still takes a while before the ceremony starts, the nurse is asked to go for a walk with the baby. She meets a young, handsome soldier, with whom she falls into the conversation. When a slightly nicer guy comes by, she leaves the child to the soldier. He must pass the child on to someone else as he is going home to the barracks. And so it goes on until the company suddenly wonders where the child has gone. Fortunately, it has been handed in at the police station where the parents can pick it up.
When found, the old box containing the film said "Barn i Kirke (Barberens Barndom)" which means "Children in Church (Childhood of the Barber)"
