Just like Alice Guy's version in France two years before, Arthur Gilbert made a 22 scene Phonoscene opera version of Faust in 1906. This may have been based partly or entirely on the Alice Guy version and rebranded to the United Kingdom, but all sources point to it being its own. Images from the film were synchronized with recorded soundtracks using the Chronophone sound-on-disc system. Arthur Gilbert also made a few short standalone scenes from Faust the year before for Gaumont("Serenade from Faust"), and this may be part of why the long version is attributed solely to him as well.
