The script for Comment Yannick fut a la messe de minuit shows a rustic teenager trying to get to midnight mass but being waylaid by elves who force him to dance a strenuous ballet with them; finally, by making a sign of the cross he escapes them. When he calls on St. Yves and St. Anne, his call is answered by the appearance of angels. They place the now unconscious Yvannick onto a carriage shaped like a swan and draw him to the church, where he wakes up alone just in time for mass.
