Descriptions

Thirty-five miles east of Sofia, an important post near the Turkish frontier. The first section shows the monks leaving church after prayer. This picture shows many poor refugees seeking shelter and food, having fled from Macedonia to escape the Turk, some traveling a hundred miles, always at night, in hiding during the day, and present truly a most pitiable sight.
