This movie was released at 21.12. 1909, and as the title alludes its a film with a scene from the bible. The English translation is "Redeemed (Episode from the Holy Bible)" and it portrays the story in John 8. The film was made for the "The First Milan 1909 World Film Competition" where it was presented in October. It was competing in the Religious genre, but no winner was announced, something that stirred up some controversy.
The story is about a Centurion Silio who falls in love with a beautiful Etère(a woman who is kind of a prostitute and a companion and offers her relationship services to men) in Gallile. One day one of the handmaids, Angizia, tells the Etère the story about having met a man called Jesus of Nazareth, who with the charm of his word and his profound doctrine conquered all those who listened to him. She went and saw him and heard the sweetness of his words, and became confused by her sins as the love for the Divine Master grew. When the Centurion Silio heard this, he became furious of jealousy and then accuses the Etère to be condemned to death. While the people were dragging the adulterer to stone her, they come across Jesus at Solomon's well, and he asked what she was guilty of. After hearing the accusation Jesus proclaims "He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her." At those words of Jesus, everyone silently went away confused, dropping the stones, while Jesus gently repeated to the sinner: "Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more."
