There is something very familiar with the way this Christmas movie is made(similar to Melies), but at the same time, it's refreshingly different in style and in its portrayal of the sacred. The angel here is clearly a Christian one holding her arms in prayer, together with St. Nicholaus as they put gifts down the chimney, but also alone whenever she appears. She has a keen interest in this family, where the parents go out to pray, and thus gives the poor family a Christmas blessing they never expected. When they pray for the food and everything in the end, they make the sign of the cross, and the angels hold her hand up as a protective gesture towards the family. It is quite beautiful and it puts the message in a very positive light. It all is very well and beautifully made.
