Description

The first known film of the temptation of St. Anthony, a film that Méliès copied in 1898. The film itself is lost, but we have a few paper prints preserved. Here as well as in the later Méliès movie, Jesus is transferred to a temptress on the cross. Pirou seems to have been inspired by the famous scandalous work "The Temptation of St Anthony" of 1878 by Félicien Rops for the composition of the movie.
