Description

Jesse and his four sons are enjoying their pastoral rest peacefully, when a warrior brings them a message from King Saul, appealing to the people of Israel, to repel the invasion of the Philistines. Three of Jesse's sons take up arms. Alone, David, still too young, remains with his old father, despite his keen desire to follow his elders. Sometime later, old Jesse asked his son to carry food for his brothers. David gladly welcomes this mission and arrives at King Saul's camp at the height of the battle. The moment is decisive. From the enemy ranks, Goliath stands out, proud of his size and strength, and challenges the army of Israel with a challenge that no one dares to meet. Alone, young David, armed with a simple slingshot, accepts the fight, kills the giant with a stone blow to the forehead, and carries his head to King Saul.

Nice little straight to the point story

Pahtés 1910 David et Goliath is a very watchable biblical story that tells the main event at the beginning of the David story. It is very straightforward and the story is understandable with the subtext in between scenes. The three main actors are presented in the beginning and I watched the Harpodeon version where the film colored, as well as a french black and white version that seemed to be of lesser quality. A nice little effect is made when David slingshots a predatory bird that then falls on the sheep. The battle is not the most epic, they stand very close making the duel seem more improbable. In the end, David points to God for his victory. It's definitely worth a watch.
